Cómo hacer sour cream. Puede que conozcas esta crema con otro nombre, ya que dependiendo del lugar se la conoce de distintas maneras. Esta crema también es conocida como nata agria, crema agria, crema ácida, salsa agria, etc…
Mucho cuidado y no confundirla con la crème fraîche, que tiene una textura parecida y su elaboración también parte de nata o crema de leche. Hay recetas como por ejemplo salsas en las que ambas elaboraciones nos pueden servir como base, en otras no son sustituibles la una por la otra, así que antes de hacer un cambio en cualquier receta debéis estar seguros.
La crema agria la podemos encontrar en la sección de refrigerados de cualquier supermercado sin mucho problema, pero hacerla en casa resulta más económico y se hace en un minuto y con tan solo un par de ingredientes que si os gusta cocinar estoy segura que tenéis en vuestros refrigeradores.
A la sour cream se le pueden dar multitud de usos. Es perfecta para elaborar salsas y aderezos para ensaladas, de hecho una salsa que seguro que conocéis que se elabora partiendo de una crema acida es la salsa ranch.
Pero esta no es la única salsa que podemos hacer partiendo de esta base. También es perfecta para sustituir el yogur y macerar pollo si estamos pensando en hacer un pollo tikka, para elaborar aderezos de ensaladas, salsas blancas para kebabs o bocatas. Tal cual se puede usar para acompañar sopas, guisos, unas flautas de pollo, unos totopos o como los llamamos aquí, unos nachos, patatas asadas.
Y estos son tan solo algunos de los usos que se le puede dar para recetas saladas, porque además es perfecta para repostería. Con crema ácida también se pueden elaborar bizcochos, magdalenas, galletas y un sin fin más de recetas. En breve pondremos en práctica algunas de ellas.
Ingredientes para la crema
- 200ml de nata liquida( ≥ 35% materia grasa)
- zumo de 1/2 limón
- sal (opcional)
Sour cream elaboración
- Para elaborar esta «crema agria» lo primero que debemos hacer es poner la nata o crema de leche en un bol.
- Después agregaremos el zumo de medio limón y un pellizco de sal, aunque esta es opcional.
- Ahora dejaremos que la mezcla repose de 3 a 5 minutos, pues necesitamos que el limón corte ligeramente la nata. Cuando veamos que la nata tiene la apariencia de estar ligeramente cortada, ya podemos pasar al siguiente proceso.
- Removeremos para integrar los ingredientes. Una vez integrados debemos a batir hasta que nuestra «sour cream» comience a estar espesa, y ya estará lista para usar.
Esta nata agria se puede conservar en el refrigerador entre 7-10 días sin problema. Si no la vais a usar toda y la quereis guardar, mi recomendación es que antes esteriliceis el recipiente, de este modo nos aseguraremos que nuestra sour cream se conservará en perfecto estado. De esta forma podremos usarla cuando la necesitemos.
