Reduce el riesgo de padecer algunos tipos de cáncer. Esto es gracias a su alto contenido en polifenoles denominados lignanos (pinoresinol, lariciresinol y secoisolariciresinol). Esta se disuelve en una textura parecida al gel en el intestino, lo que nos hace sentirnos saciados con muy poca cantidad durante mucho más tiempo que con otras hortalizas.

El pepino favorece la eliminación natural del ácido úrico, evitando mediante este proceso la retención de líquidos. Gracias a sus propiedades laxantes, ayuda a limpiar el intestino de residuos.
