La mermelada de tomate es perfecta para acompañar carnes, quesos y hacer innumerables combinaciones de canapés y aperitivos. Hacerla en casa es muy sencillo y tiene la ventaja de que podemos personalizarla agregando nuestras especias favoritas.
Podéis hacerla con tomates en conserva(triturados) o con tomate natural. Para hacerla con tomates naturales solo teneis que pelarlos previamente, quitarles las pepitas y triturarlos. Yo personalmente prefiero hacerla utilizando conservas, ya que el color que queda es más vivo. Las proporciones de esta mermelada son utilizar la mitad del peso de los tomates en azúcar.
Si queréis hacer mermelada de tomate para guardar tan solo tenéis que multiplicar las cantidades por los tarros de mermelada que queráis hacer. Con las cantidades indicadas sale un tarro de +/-200g. Ingredientes para 1 tarro/bote (+/-200g)
- 500g de tomate triturado en conserva
- 250g azúcar
cómo hacer mermelada de tomate
- Para comenzar a elaborar la mermelada de tomate ponemos en una olla el azúcar con el tomate y cocinamos a fuego medio durante 30 minutos o hasta que la mezcla tenga la consistencia de mermelada. Es importante ir removiendo la mezcla de vez en cuando para que no se queme, sobre todo los últimos minutos de cocción. Sabremos que la mermelada está lista cuando le vaya quedando poco líquido y este más espesa(densa).
- Una vez que la tenemos hecha la envasamos de inmediato en tarros previamente esterilizados, si nunca lo habéis hecho podéis consultar mi post donde os explico cómo esterilizar tarros de cristal en casa de un modo muy sencillo.
- Una vez que tengamos la mermelada en los tarros, los tapamos y les damos la vuelta para hacerles el vacío. De este modo podemos almacenar la mermelada casera de tomate hasta un año, sin temor a que se estropee.
